Bottle… October ‘09 O-Town Throwdown!… Clear amber ale with a small, fluffy, white head. The nose is sweet, medicinal and metallic. Medium-bodied with fizzy carbonation. The flavor is balanced and a hint acidic, but otherwise, there’s really nothing going on. Crisp, tangy finish. Bottle courtesy of juiceisloose!

Bottle. Amber pour. Lots of cereal malt and hops. Flavor is pretty standard and boring. Go Big Blue? LOL!

Bottle sample at the Red Ale tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits on 10/8/09. Pours a clear orange/copper with a thin off-white head. Grainy and caramel malts in the nose with a bit of crisp hop. Creamy and fruity flavor with caramel malt before a bitter finish. Not very red for a red ale and pretty average overall.

(bottle from trade w/ beervirgin72). Clear reddish orange color. Medium off white head. Balanced malt and hop aroma and flavor. Avg duration. Smooth finish with a very light bitterness. Thin texture. Moderate carbonation. Fair lacing.

Reddish amber color with a disappating white head. The apple and appircot fruitiness in the nose was overpowered by the hair spray/alcohol. Harsh raw hops with some grass and orange zest, over some apple sauce and toasted malt. Good marketing to OSU fans, but really not a very interesting beer.

12oz bottle from BeerVirgin72 - thanks, Dawn! Nice translucent reddish pour with a moderate head. Nose is toasted malts with just a trace of hops for balance. The body was medium, the finish a bit thin. But I thought it was generally a nicely flavorable version of the style, even if not particularly complex. Not bad at all.

Objectively speaking: Depressively tranquil Englsih-style ale.
I like: I did not find much to like about this one.
I dislike: Nothing stands out. Neglectable hops fail to balance the sweetness developed. Dull grainy (red grain, red rice) malt profile with strong huskiness and sweet caramel. Toastiness is never considered, feels watery and stale on the palate. One of their less shining beers, that or it was not at its freshest.
