Dark brown porter covered by a slice of beige head. Quite aromatic for a dark beer. This is roasty, yes, but mostly cerealic, hinting at a certain oatmeal character. Instead of taking the classic chocolate/coffee route, it heads towards licorice territory. In doing so, it manages to reach out towards a fair fruity background that haunts the finish with its tasty blackberry and dark grape hints. It remains mostly thin, but tasty enough for a brewpub porter.

Draft at brewpub. Dark brown pour with a moderate light brown head that diminished slowly. Medium roasted malt aroma. Medium body. Solid roasted malt nutty flavor with a average smooth finish.

Draft at the brewpub: Rich and milky, dark and toasty. Nice lactose sweetness over the top of a lightly bitter porter. Good. Best of the three I tried here.

Pours an opaque brownish-black color with a thin beige head. Aroma of malt and nuts. Medium-bodied, and I was struck by a cinnamon flavor out of nowhere which made this an interesting Porter to say the least. Behnid the cinnamon were the more expected flavors of chocolate and malt. Finish still had some cinnamon, along with light hops and nuts. Overall pretty good, and I like the name too.

Light, smokey toast aroma. Deep clear cola brown. Dry with medium nuttiness and parched coffee. Very good balance, smooth and drinkable.

Sample at the brewpub - Poured black with a short white head and minimal lacing. Aromas of toasted malts and nuts. Some notes of chocolate come out in the flavor and more of the roasted malts and nut flavor as well. Body is rather thin and was disappointing after the aroma.

Medium to dark brown pour with tight off white head and lace. Astrigent coffee aroma. A large coffee flavor and a bit of a sour. A full bodied beer with good carbonation. Pretty damn good.

Black-bodied under oily brown. Dark fruit nose with mild coffee roasts. Worty flavor, concentrating on bitterness. Thin. Feels unfinished.
