Pours a clear brown with a white head. Strong coffee aroma and nothing else. Except for the mediumbody, the only thing this beer resembles is a one day old cold cup of coffee. The sad thing is the server said this was one of thier better beers?

On tap at brewpub. Dark brown color with thin soapy head. Weak coffee and roast aromas. Palate felt watered-down. The coffee was present in the taste, but the traditional roasty porter characteristics just weren’t there for me. This beer tasted thin and unexciting. Perhaps in my mind I’m using a coffee stout yardstick instead of a coffee porter, but I was unimpressed with this one.

Dark brown with a small tan head. Roasted coffee aroma. Flavor is almost all coffee, with some sweet malts. Smooth and drinkable.

Draft sampler at the Elevator. Poured dark brown with a moderate light brown head that lasted. Solid roasted sweet malt aroma. Medium to full body. Solid sweet coffee flavor with a good smooth medium finish. Solid drinkable brew.

This is the April selection in Elevator’s "MBA" program. Pours black with a compact light tan head and thin wispy lacing. Strong coffee aroma, as well as a bit of malt and chocolate. Rich and smooth body with the most pronounced coffee/espresso flavor in a coffee beer that I can remember in some time. Sweet cocoa and malt in the background makes this pretty tasty all around. The finish is bitter coffee and light hops. Elevator is capable of making a damn good beer and this is one of their better ones.

Had this first as a sample then a full pint at the brewpub as the beer of the month for April. Pours black with a nice creamy tan head that stayed well and laced the sides of the glass. Aroma is dominated by coffee but a touch of chocolate can be found behind that too. Flavor is again dominated by the coffee but there is some definite chocolate behind it as well. Body is full and somewhat creamy. Feels very nice in the mouth. Finishes with a good coffee aftertaste. This was a great dessert beer after the rock filet and the best of the 12 that I sampled.
