Small white head that sticks around. Aroma is toasty, sweet, slightly burnt. Slightly burnt toast really, that describes it about as well as I can. Mild but pleasant. Flavor is smooth, slightly crackery with just the faintest touch of chocolate. Drinkability is very high. This is swell. Not nearly anything special but I can’t think of anything bad to say about it. juiceisloose (677), Windermere, Florida, USA

Pours a translucent, dark brown pour with a thin tan head that leaves spotty lacing behind. The aroma shows notes of sweet caramel malt, burnt toast, and some hops. The flavor is of roasted nuts, sweet caramel malt, and some hop bitterness. Medium bodied and easy drinknig, but is a touch thin on the palate. The finish is dry and bitter from the hops. Pretty nice sweet flavor on this one. Not too bad at all. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 11, 2008 Updated: Aug 12, 200807-Jul-08 (22-oz bottle with a competition label only: Free sample bottle for stewarding the 2008 World Beer Cup in San Diego, CA) Dry, nutty, lightly chocolaty, gently roasty nose leads nicely into an entry of lightly sweet chocolate, very toasty malts, and roasted nuts. Noble hop flavor and mild hop bitterness add some balance to this very malty beer. The roasty finish dries out the beer even further. Medium bodied with soft but ample carbonation. The medium-brown body is slightly hazy and capped by a tall, bubbly, light-tan head that settles to a wide ring over time. Some random patches of lace are left on the glass. A very nice dark lager that’s clean and easy to drink, but not short on flavor. estoppel (1028), Buffalo, New York, USA

Pours medium orange-amber with a thin white head. Smells of toasted carmel malt, a bit bready. Pretty decently balanced with a dark roasted malt, finishing with a lingering hop.
