Commercial Description:
Because of the lack of fresh water, India pale ale was a necessity for the 18th century East India traders. Deep and rich with a distinct floral essence.

Draft at the brewpub: Shiny copper. Sweet and tart together at once. A starker version of their pale ale. Almost baked apple sourness at the end. Livens up a bit as it warms, as the moldiness settles into a bit more of a fruity bite.

Mild hop aroma from this medium brown/red beer. Some decent hops in the taste. Finish is a bit sour for me.

Light brown-amber, lacing head. Sweetish caramel aroma. Will-bittered, medium fruit, medium sweet, well-balanced. Medium body, long bitter finish. Fair diacetyl. Well done.

Draft at the Elevator. Poured dark amber with a moderate white head that was mostly lasting and had fair lacing. Medium hoppy sour citrus aroma. Medium to light body. Medium hoppy sour citrus flavor with a solid biiter finish. Solid drinkable IPA.

Sample at the brewpub - Pours dark amber with a short foamy offwhite head. Aroma is mostly c-hops. Some grapefruit and pine both there but defintely not as dominant as I usually like in my IPAs. Flavor is malty at first. Caramel, and grains turn to a bitter floral and grapefruit finish. Palate is light and somewhat on the watery side.

Pours rich gold with thin white head. Nose is of grapefruit and slightly acidic. Hops predominate in this IPA, very American in character in that the hops (Chinook if I’m not mistaken) don’t allow much malt balance at all. More citrus in the flavor, long bitter aftertaste.

A faint soapy aroma, but in a good way. A hoppy grainy taste that sustains throughout. An "easy" IPA and one to have again.

An odd IPA. Pours light brown with a tiny white head. Aroma is faint malt. Taste is lemon, but not much for hops. Aftertaste is weak, leaving a little citrus for the palate. Not the best IPA out there.
