dwyerpg (2143), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Aug 13, 2008 This was okay. A mild amount of smoke in the aroma and a similar amount in the flavor. A little malty, but mostly indistinct in flavor. Just okay.
Tmoney99 (3740), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Sep 18, 2008 Draft at brewpub. Poured clear copper color with an average frothy white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate smoked malt aroma. Medium body with soft carbonation. Medium to heavy smoke burnt wood flavor with a medium bitter finish of moderate duration. I would not recommend this to a freind. Dogbrick (2350), Columbus, Ohio, USA Aug 26, 2008 On draught at the brewpub (as Rauch-Amber). Pours deep amber with a compact off-white head that diminishes slowly. Stringy lacing on the glass. Smoked malt in the nose, with a bit of hops and caramel. Medium-bodied with a subtle smoky character. Notes of roasted malt, caramel and hops as well. The finish is woody malt with a mild smoked aftertaste. Not overdone in the smoke department, however this is not something I would get again. The smoky aspects are just kind of there, they do not really enhance the beer. estoppel (1023), Buffalo, New York, USA Aug 1, 2008 Draft at brewpub. Amberish body, small head, smoky nose with clove notes. Sweet malts; something phenolic clashes with the smoke; did not like this one.
