Commercial Description:
Pasteurised bottle. Also available on keg as Old Smoothie Mild.
NOTE: Ratings for the cask version should not be posted here; it has a separate listing.
A traditional dark mild at 3.6% abv. It has many CAMRA awards to its name and is a well known brand in the free trade. The beer is well balanced with a full roast flavour. The use of Crystal malt and Roast Barley give a deep underlying characteristic flavour, which is balanced with Fuggles hops as the sole variety.

Deep brownish amber color with a small, bubbly beige head. Nose of lightly roasted grain and faint grass. I think milds are an under appreciated style, at least in the US. This is a very flavorful 3.6% beer. Roasted grains, puffed wheat, some coffee bitterness with the grass coming out in the finish. I wish I could get a good mild here. Thanks to cgarvieuk for the bottle.

Thanx oh6gdx. Hazy brown in color, bubbly beige head, lacings. The aroma is hoppy and almost juniper berry like. The flavor is sweet and malty with a distinct hoppiness.

Bottled (BB 07/2009)
Very dark ruby color, good tan head. Coffee, prune and caramel in the nose. Light palate, but not that light than expected from 3.6 % beer. Roasted flavor, slightly caramelly - very dunkel-like brew. Oily mouthfeel giving sort of low alcohol feeling.
