omhper (10950), Stockholm, Sweden Dec 30, 2006 Updated: Feb 1, 2007Cask at Oliver Twist, Stockholm Amber colour. Fruity nose with plums and vegetables. Sweet with sugar and ash, medium bodied. Densely malty with a grassy, resiny finish that just gown in bitterness. Solid, but too sweet bitters are not really my cup of tea. harrisoni (5474), Ashford, Kent, England Dec 5, 2005 Cask handpull at County Hotel, JDW, Ashford. Copper colour with thin beige head. Yeasty aroma with candied orange peel and some caramel. Quite sweet in mouth with dried fruit peel flavours. Finish is citric, acidic which balances the sweetness. Some hop. Quite like this duff (5407), Sydney, Australia, Surrey, England Jan 5, 2006 Cask@The Lord Moon of the Mall, Trafalgar Square, London. A boring, though slightly stronger bitter. A touch of sweet malt. With a earthy, slightly green hoppy finish, medium bitter. chriso (4420), London, Greater London, England Dec 7, 2005 Updated: Dec 12, 2005Cask (handpump) at Lord Moon of the Mall (JDW), Whitehall. Now this is a nice beer. Amber colour with a slight, but lasting, white head. Chewy malt, treacle toffee, even some licorice. But its not too sweet and has a decent hop hit to provide some bite. Firm mouthfeel, with a dry, almost tannic, aftertaste. Shame it was served too cold to pick up much aroma. Not a heavily spiced Christmas beer, but a very tasty one. Plenty of depth.
imdownthepub (4249), Banbury, Oxfordshire, England Jan 1, 2008 Cask conditioned at a Wetherspoons. Gold brown with white head. Caramel, butterscotch to the fore, a little too dominating for this type of beer, there is a plummy fruitiness within the malt and a sharpish resinous finish. Not a great beer.
