SilkTork (3950), Rochester, Kent, England Dec 12, 2005 JDW, Rochester. Wow! Beautiful Golden Ale approaching American Pale Ale territory. Excellent juicy malt: full, clean and just sweet enough to serve as an excellent base for the pink grapefruit and cobweb crush of shifting earthy English hops. Stunning! I went back for more and ended up a little merry! hughie (2415), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England Dec 6, 2006 Cask at the Wellington Arms, Bedford. Amber with a small off-white head. Fruit and malt aroma. Delicious sweet fruit and caramel malt taste with medium to strong bitterness. Beautiful tasty beer. Stupid pump clip. Mungo (2474), Southampton, Hampshire, England Dec 21, 2005 Cask conditioned @ Standing Order(JDW), Soton. Orange/copper colour. Citrus zest herbs and peppery hops. Some sweet malt but balanced by a mouthfilling bitterness. A hoppy beer with interesting malt component. Prevented from being too sweet by bitterness - think tangy marmalade. Dangerously drinkable. chriso (4420), London, Greater London, England Dec 7, 2005 Updated: Dec 12, 2005Cask (handpump) at Lord Moon of the Mall (JDW), Whitehall. Now this is a nice beer. Amber colour with a slight, but lasting, white head. Chewy malt, treacle toffee, even some licorice. But its not too sweet and has a decent hop hit to provide some bite. Firm mouthfeel, with a dry, almost tannic, aftertaste. Shame it was served too cold to pick up much aroma. Not a heavily spiced Christmas beer, but a very tasty one. Plenty of depth.
ante (2571), Stockholm, Sweden Dec 17, 2006 Cask at Oliver twist, Stockholm. Pours out in a clear amber colour with orange hints topped with a small firm white head. Malty aroma of caramel and fudge with touches of sweet red berries. Dense malty flavour of nuts, earth and toffee with touches of resin. Quite full-bodied. Long bitter aftertaste of grass, resin and nut-shells with a small whif of alcohol.
