The aroma was tangy, sweet and fruity with notes of caramel and pepper. The flavor was bitter, tangy and malty with light fruity hop and touches of toasted caramel, anise and pepper. The finish was long, malt and fruity with light caramel. Fairly full bodied. Very good. CharlesDarwin (1864), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 13, 2008 On tap at the brewpub. Noses in a malt and graham cracker punch, with a bit of slight age and some cheesy hops. Not entirely crisp or sweet. Pours a copper-amber, slighty haze and foam of white above. Flavor is fresh and mildly malty. A bit of lager smoothness, some undue grain alcohol heat and a nip of esters. Very mild and generally clean. Hops are very low in the profile. Generally to style, if a little weak and a little hot. Palate edges thin. Fresh and drinkable.
