Commercial Description:
A dark ale brewed with roasted barley and Kent Golding hops. This is a full bodied ale that owes its character to the dark roasted malts. Goes great with a steak or a brewers burger.

Very roasted bready nose. Rather astringent overroasted mouthfeel. Mildly astringent with some lactic sourness. Dry astringent finish.

Very dark brown color with a head that never arrived. Toasted malt aroma with a hint of plum (actually looks a bit like prune juice). Rather thin in body with creamy carbonation. Toasted malt with a fair amount of bitter; possibly a hint of smoke. Very good combination. The finish is toasty dry and seems to have hop bitter as well as burnt toast bitter.

Deep brown-black. Minimal head. Malted milk, dark-chocolate aroma. Strongly roasted, leaning towards smoky flavor, with plenty of bitter roast. Carbonation is a bit strong and leads to a slightly acrid acidity in conjunction with the smoky notes. Otherwise a perfectly acceptable brewpub stout.

GABF '03. Poured a decent black color with minimal tan head. Musky coffee aroma. Chocolate taste with dry grain finish.
