16 ounce sample on tap at the brewpub. Aroma is a bit faint, sweet, fruity, with some mild anise presence. Some coffee is detected in there, too. Aroma could definitely be more assertive. Mostly opaque black/dark brown body with a small, weak tan head with below-average lacing present. Starts off sweet, sugary, and chocolatey. Becomes more roasted with more chocolate and a bit of coffee in the middle. Some metallic hop flavors later. Very nice. Balanced, drinkable, and very flavorful. An enjoyable brew! Wish the aroma was more present, though.
