trevor211 (158), Seattle, Washington, USA Dec 26, 2007 Pours copper, with a smallish head that dissipates quickly. Very clear. Aroma of strong citrus hops, well balanced with malts... but that balance ends at the first taste. The hops come through, but not much else does. It just tastes bitter, without any of the complexity that I’ve come to enjoy from better IPAs. The mouthfeel is very nice, but overall, this is one of the more disappointing IPAs I’ve tried.
boFNjackson (609), Portland, USA Nov 2, 2008 Bottle... Poured amber with a thin white head. Aroma was floral, hoppy and sweet with malt. This beer was much better than their amber. Not nearly as hoppy as a good pale ale would be, but enough to be a bolder session ale. theisti (1180), Leawood, Kansas, USA Aug 6, 2008 12 oz bottle purchased at the Safeway in Sequim, Washington. Pour is clearish orange golden with an off white head. Aroma of faint citrus hops, perhaps a floral note in there as well. The taste is more of the same, faint citrus with a fair amount of maltiness to the backbone. Palate was thin to medium and a bit flat. Overall, a middle of the road to boring IPA. bhensonb (3136), Woodland, California, USA Jun 15, 2008 Bottle. Orange tinged golden color with a fizzy beige head. Decent citrus hop aroma. Near medium body with fizzy carbonation. Flavor is citrus/floral hop and biscuity malt. Malt is a bit harsh, and this makes me think ESB rather than IPA. Finishes nicely bitter with malt to balance. It’s a decent drink, but doesn’t stand up to the better IPAs. HoppyGuy (111), USA May 28, 2008 Pours a light orange color with an off-white head. Aroma is of citrus and malts. The taste is disappointing, as it is a melange of flavors. The malty nature overtakes the hops, which in my mind is a no-no for an IPA. This brew has a flat mouthfeel and a dull finish. This is near the bottom of my list for IPAs (if not the very bottom).
