| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 1, 2009 Strangely unique and complex. Pour out of the bottle is more soda looking, but the accumulated whole makes for a relatively dark brown bordering black pour with a big frothy beige tan head with little cocoa looking niblets sitting at the bottom. Aroma big on chocolaty liquor, some nice roasted malts, dark fruits, and lighter notes of caramel. Flavor maintains a heavy cocoa with dark fruits prunes mostly coming through as well. Definitley more going on in this beer, will need to revisit. Travlr (759), Washington, Washington DC, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 22, 2009 Appearance is almost black with a thin, rapidly disappearing tan head and minimal to no lacing.
Smell is of dark fruits, nuts and cocoa.
Taste is very subtle, with plum, vanilla, roasted sweet malt and a dry slightly bitter chocolate finish.
Slightly thin body for its style and strength, but a nice, understated, complex beer. I have one in storage for 13 months so far, very curious to taste it when it has matured a bit. wimpie133 (176), Brugge, Belgium

Tremendous pallet of aroma with smell of coffee, caramel, sugar candy, malt and further on also light hoppy and light spicy notes. Overall not the best smell however. Taste of coffee, light caramel, light spicy with a light hop bitter aftertaste. Very good stout overall! eManu (204), Brussels, Belgium

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 16, 2009 11.2 oz bottle from Gomer’s in Lee’s Summit. Typical stout color, head is a light shade of brown for an imperial stout. Aroma is definitely Belgian stout- some nice fruity and sweet characteristics. The taste starts off quite different from the smell- heavy on the smokiness and earthy spices in relation to the aroma, definitely not expected. As i drink more the Belgian origin shows itself. Not a very thick stout, again not very "imperial" in my opinion. Nice, an easy drinker with good impressions across the board but not a standout, especially if this is really an imperial stout. I’d just call it a Belgian stout and leave it at that. Nice bottle, which is the saving grace of a good, but not great, $6.99 11.2 oz.
