| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Nov 17, 2009 33cl swingtop bottle. Pours a dull hazy copper with low to medium carbonation- moderate head fades to a thin white cap- and some slight spotty lace. Aroma is sweet stale old musty malts, oxidation, cardboard, toast, sweet maple syrup, soy, and fruity dates and raisins- more of an old barleywine than saison. Flavor is a bit less sweet although still crackery stale and oxidized fades into a stale old mildewy pool water, withs ome herbs and phenols, flat backbone and almost comes around tasting like a very old musty fantome at some points. Light toffee and caramel malts, oxidation, not as much syrup or soy as the aroma, but definitely old, although the bottle looked new. Not as much tartness as the old aroma and flavor would suggest- body and aftertaste fades to almost nothing- very boring overall. Definitely past its prime. Forgot where I bought this? thedm (3836), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 20, 2009 This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a large sized head of foamy finely sized off-white colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a hazy with with yeast swirls softly carbonated orange brown colored body. The mild aroma was brown malt and musty. The crisp mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The flavor contained notes of hops and mild brown malt. A decent one that I would consider buying again. PJClarke (708), London, Greater London, England
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 13, 2009 Minus mark on appearance due to the super lame fart of an opening. Soapy, slightly cheesy and a little disinfectant like. Very sweet. Lemony and a little spicy. I like it but find it a little boring and with some funny little nuances knocking around that I’m not too keen on. Borresteijn (1426), Amsterdam, Netherlands
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 25, 2009 33cl Swingtop bottle from De Bierkoning. Cloudy orange colour, creamy white head. Aroma of fruity yeast notes, oranges, bit of sugar. Flavour is sweet at first, peach, bitter oranges, spicy yeast, flowery wheat, drying grassy and dusty bitter finish. Dry mouthfeel, medium bodied. Nice, tastes and smells like a regular Belgian ale at first, and like a good Saison in the finish. theisti (1680), Leawood, Kansas, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jul 10, 2009 0.33 l swingtop bottle, two bottles provided by Elliott. Pour is mostly clear copper with a smallish white head. Aroma of iron, metallic, dirt, grain then some wheat. Some grass and toffee in there as well. Muddled nose. Taste is caramel, honey - very meaty sweetness. The metallic element comes through as well. Weird tasting. Palate is medium, almost no carbonation, finish is more of the metal. This was my least favorite Saison for the evening. Thanks for bringing these Elliott. AskForJenny (655), Ontario, New York, USA
