Subtle aroma with a light chocolate note. Perfectly-balanced, chocolatey flavor, but thin. Light-bodied and watery with medium carbonation. Short, crisp, clean finish. jcwattsrugger (5333), Florida and, New Jersey, USA

Malty chocolate, roasty, raisin, and rum in the nose. Flavors are chocolately and mild citrus hops. No other way to really describe it. Full bodied, pillow soft carbonation, semi dry finish. I agree with Jeff. A very good session brew from these guys... jeffin7 (610), Silver Spring, Maryland, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 3, 2004 Pours black and opaque (I think it was dark in the bar). Mild aromas. Flavor was a nice sweet roastedness with mild fruity esters that seem to be in all the Alpenhof brews. The flavors where fairly gentle but where very nice. This is a top notch session beer.
