I just thought that this was another weak beer from the brewer. If was drinkable, just not a great dunkel. hellbilly (1532), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jul 5, 2009 dark copper colored pour is a bit hazy with a slightly off white ring of lace.
it smells like honey, caramel cream and grain.
the flavor is the same combined with a spicy dry finish.
it is medium bodied with a smooth mouth feel from low carbonation. garcia2a (6), Ambler, Pennsylvania, USA does not count | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 24, 2009 The beer poured a deep amber, relatively clear with a slight head and low carbonation.
The nose had light malts with some nice sweet citrus on the nose. This translated well to the taste as there was nice malt with an acidic touch on the from tongue while there was a slight smoke finish with just a hint of sausage. Gotta admit I didn’t pick that up on the nose.
This beer has good mouthfeel as is just a tad nit light for the style, making this a very easy beer to enjoy. I did however, get some cloying towards the end of my pint, but all and all a tasty.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 9, 2009 Draft at the brewpub. Smooth and creamy. Black-brown with a lasting foamy head. This is quite nice, light, and fluffy. My favorite of the "regular" Ellicott Mills beers. kassner (450), Wexford, Pennsylvania, USA

Taste of roasted malts with some caramel sweetness. Seems too watery and unfinished. beachbum25 (783), Powellville, Maryland, USA

Dark amber color w/a slight head. Roasted malt aroma, w/traces of sweet caramel & spice. At least this one was drinkable/enjoyable. Dry spicy finish. kp (8399), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

dark amber, whispy tan head, nice lace, faint rich sweet carmel malt aroma with earthy hops, old and sour malt flavor from a keg that must be older then the musty dark basement bar where it’s served
