jcwattsrugger (3757), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Apr 13, 2007 on tap-pours a thin creamy light tan head and cloudy copper color. Aroma is sweet caramel, fruity, musty. Taste is sweet caramel, fruity, secondary hops bitterness, musty, finishes with alcohol. OK/mild carbonation. dirty_martini (194), Los Angeles, California, USA Feb 3, 2007 had this around january 12-13ish, 07. almost barleywine like. from what i remember it had a honey caramel like color....with a taste to match. very sweet with brown sugary, raisiny type flavors follow by a nice, but not overwhelming alcohol burn. argo0 (6019), Washington DC, USA Dec 18, 2004 (This year is 12.5% ABV) Opaque, murky dark brown with beige head. Aroma is caramel, vanilla, raisin, some alcohol (port). Taste is fairly sweet, brown sugar, raisin/date, caramel. Creamy medium body, minimal carbonation, alcohol exceptionally well hidden. Aroma opens up as it warms, but the alcohol presence grows then as well. scraff (1612), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Mar 25, 2004 One of the best efforts yet fom this Maryland brewpub. Cloudy dark copper, tan head. Lots of fuzzy fruit, maple candy, toffee, and a even a bit of port for good measure. Rich, full bodied and sweet, but not cloying by any means. Won't see it again until next winter, but I think it should be on tap all year. Great stuff. hopscotch (4379), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Mar 21, 2004 This beer rocks!
Hazy, copper lager with a small, creamy, off-white head. Malty and fruity aroma. Apricot, maple syrup, sweet sherry and orange blossom honey. The flavor mirrors the aroma and both conceal the hight ABV relatively well. The alcohol and hops balance the beer out fairly well, but it IS a triple bock, so, yep, it's sweet. Full-bodied with a syrupy mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Short, fruity, bitter-sweet finish. World class stuff!
