Slightly hazy amber pour, average lasting fluffy off-white head. Juicy citrus/light resin aroma, quite a bit of fruity malt - not a big alcohol or bitterness monster at all - double IPA? Really? The taste is still quite juicy - orange and tangerine, with low-level dry bitterness that does build slowly, but still, not imperial at all, and only moderate alcohol - the bottle says 11.5% but no way. Average body, light astringency and carbonation, medium-quick finish. A nice pale ale, with maybe a little more hop bitterness .... and why is there another Ellicottville entry called Imperial Pale Ale? The bottle says 10.5% I’m confused - it goes here for now. jerc (3268), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jul 15, 2007 Growler at Coles IPA Festival. Labeled "Pantius Dropius Imperial IPA." I am going to assume that this is one and the same! Golden dark amber body with a smallish head. Big boozy aroma as it has warmed up a bit, hot caramel, less hops than I would have expected. Flavour starts with boozy toffee and caramel, with light fruity hops. A very bitter finish lingers long into the aftertaste. Surprisingly big finish on a relatively mild flavour profile. Average to medium palate is a bit under carbonated, but the growler had been open for a while. Nice beer. blankboy (2687), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 23, 2008 Updated: Oct 19, 2008My bottle (650ml) shared with HogTownHarry & tupalev. Pours a hazy orange-copper with a small diminishing fluffy white head. Aroma of caramel malt, citrus and floral hops, some sweetness and light spices. Flavour’s the same: Caramel malt, citrus and floral hops, light spices and with a touch of alcohol. Medium bodied. Pretty good.
