Aroma has a nice amount of coffee and burnt malts with a slight hint of chocolate. Flavor is very rich and roasty with a nice coffee and cream flavor with lots of roasted malts at the finish. A little thin for a stout, but other than that I was really happy with it. bitter (1137), Henderson, Nevada, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 25, 2005 at the brewpub or karaoke 70’s lounge. this place is the getto. not your typical brewpub atmosphere. think this is the same beer. only said ’stout’ on the tap hand no xxx. typical look of almost opaque dark brown ruby colors with a tan head. not much nose or maybe a small amt of choc/burnt nut. palate was rather thin and weak in carbonation. same flavors of espresso, choc malt and nuts. somwhat thin and uninteresting. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 15, 2004 The only full beer I tried on my trip to the brewpub, I decided to splurge and pay the $1 since I am a fan of Stouts. I guess it was worth the dollar. Served way too cold first of all. Pours almost black with a creamy light beige head. Thin sheet of lacing on the glass. The aroma is mildly roasty, with some coffee present. Medium-bodied and on the carbonated side. Mundane flavor as with the other Ellis Island beers, slightly nutty with some malt and hops. The finish is crisp for a Stout, not very hoppy or bitter - just crisp. Probably the best you can do at this casino but still a barely average beer. What a waste of a 'XXX'. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Aug 4, 2006 The most flavorful of the beers I sampled at Ellis Island Casino and Brewery in Las Vegas, NV. Like all their beers, you will pay $1 a pint, which is a a nice price for an average, but decent pint of stout. This beer pours to a jet black color, with a creamy white head, and a moderate to soft carbonation. The nose has some mild aromas of chocolate malt, coffee, and light roast. The palate is firm with good dark malt, chocolate, coffee, and mild roasty flavors. This beer finishes with more dark chocolate and coffee up front, then ends slightly bitter, with dark chocolate flavor that lingers. I enjoyed this one, as I did all the beers at Ellis Island. The beers here are average or just a cut above average, but I say average craft brew is better than no craft brew. nqualls (1428), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 14, 2009 On tap at the Ellis Island Casino and Brewpub. Poured a dark brown with red highlights, and a one finger brown head. The aroma was roasted malt. The flavor was roasted malt, with a hint of chocolate. This was the best of their five offerings, but not a great beer overall. presario (2994), Calgary, Alberta, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 14, 2005 Thick and black. Trace of sourness. Good amount of roasted malt. No dominant flavours. Sweetness in the middle. Moderate finish. Very drinkable (is that like saying "she has a great personality"?). Trifle too cold. BückDich (4854), McCall, Idaho, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Oct 9, 2004 Some color, darker black than the dark at least. Nose of chocolate, coffee and a bit of turpentine & roasted roadkill. Finishes a bit toasty & doughy like a shot of raw flour in the mouth. Full bodied, plastic palm trees and fromica are filling my thoughts. This is Bob Hope’s turf! Wiseblood (658), Clarksville, Tennessee, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 19, 2007 Dark brown with a tan head. Aromas of roasted malts and cocoa stand out. Slightly fruity, coffee flavor that seemed a little too thin and watery. Crisp and dry for a stout. Ends with some dark chocolate and some bitterness.
