Jun 28, 2006 (650ml bottle) Sampled with Oakes at the Pan Pacific Hotel. Huge cloudy almond head with a highly carbonated deep orange body. Nose of Seville orange seeds. Flavour is incredibly orangey and syrupy. Lasting citrus finish. Very tastey and balanced malt and hops.

Jun 25, 2006 Bronze colour. The aroma is lightly spicy, caramelly and rather toasty. Slightly chewy with brown sugar, and again quite a bit of toastiness. A rough, unrefined version.

Jun 15, 2006 5 ounce sample on tap at Tangletown Publick House in Seattle. Hoppy, citrusy orange aroma with some mild sweetness. Smells like an IPA. Transparent copper color with a small whitish head. Hopped orangey citrus start, turning sweeter and stickier in the middle. A little bock-like. Finishes hoppy again. Extrememly hoppy for style--too much so.

May 17, 2006 On tap at Tangletown. Light cloudy amber. Sweet yeast aroma. Very unique mandarin orange taste. A bit hoppy. Bitter finish. Tasty.

Apr 20, 2006 Draught Good persistent yellowish head leaving lace; orangey-clear beer. Slight bitterish nose, a bit lactic and caramel malts. Sweet, breadsugar but not bready. Ever so slight caramelly and hopbitterness. Lots of fresh-tasting malts, but not very Germanic. Slick, well bodied, a bit cloying even. Not exactly my favourite from Elysian. Taste a real German one and adapt - or give it another name?

Aug 9, 2005 Lightly hazed golden appearance, thick head formation. Malty, mildly yeasty aroma. Sweet sugarry palate, touch of caramel, touch of dryness towards the end, but overall pretty simple.

Jun 2, 2005 Draught @ Brouwers Cafe: Fiery golden, translucent, mediocre white head, wonderful lacing, soft carbonation. Malty nose, quite sweet. Translates directly to the taste, not heavy, quite light in fact. Body and mouthfeel are medium. Light finish, lighter than most. Clean, but not big. Not bad!
