| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 16, 2009 A nice floral bouquet with hints of jasmine amid the hops and dominant malts. A dark orange beer with plenty of white head. A sweet malty body that doesn’t overwhelm the subtle hops and very sweet jasmine flavor. The floral finish lingers for a several minutes. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 13, 2009 22 oz. bottle thanks to Scrizzz. Tried the imperial version at UBER, let’s see how this thing holds up. Nice orange color with a slight haze. Relatively fluffy head. A nice looking IPA. Slight flower aroma. I remember the imperial one being fairly aromatic, but this is not an imperial version. There is a fruity aroma with malts. Jasmine starts to show up as it gets warmer and warmer. Not extremely impressed with the aroma because it is rather weak, in my opinion. Now the flavor is a different story. Slight flower spice coming from the jasmine. The jasmine flavor is fairly obvious. Use of hops could have been changed to work with the jasmine. Slight malt flavor as well. A very smooth IPA. Overall, a nice IPA, but this thing wasn’t that hoppy. I appreciate the use of jasmine, but didn’t help the beer much. paiste2002 (152), Saugus, California, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 3, 2009 Pours clear golden-amber, with a thin white head, good lacing. Sweet floral aroma, caramel, apple, biscuit, lightly grassy and earthy. Light body, creamy, mildly dry. Sweet and mellow up front, with some floral notes (maybe just a little tiny bit of jasmine mixed in), caramel and biscuit, and a pleasant slightly vegetable undertone. Finishes with light earthy bohemian-style hops. Well balanced and drinkable. DuffMan (2751), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 1, 2009 Bottle, shared with Parksy. Pours a deep bronze with a nice thick white cap. Beautiful jasmine flower and toast aroma. Rich toasty malt up front, toffee, then a mouth-filling bitterness with jasmine flower perfume at the back of the palate, filling the nose on the swallow. Different indeed, and delicious! mansquito (825), Boston/Philadelphia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 23, 2009 On tap: pours a strange color for an IPA... kind of pinkish amber. Off-white head. Nice aroma, flowery, jasmine, nice hoppage. Really mild amount of hops for an IPA, not that it is a bad things. Kind of sweet. Like the below reviewer, I too drink jasmine green tea and while drinking this I wondered if the jasmine was in there or just a name. In any case, it is flowery and fruity, but not specifically jasmine. A pretty good and different take on the IPA. Ernest (4483), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Oct 16, 2009 Bottle, New Belgium brewed version.
Head is initially small, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing.
Body is light amber.
Aroma is moderately malty (toasted grain, cereal, husks), lightly to moderately hoppy (apricot, grapefruit).
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter.
Medium body, syrupy/watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic.
Jasmine? Really? Where? It’s hoppy, sure, but more in a fruity, not flowery, way and there’s no evidence of actual jasmine flowers to my nose (I enjoy jasmine green tea from time to time, so I’m fairly familiar with the odor). Might be New Belgium’s fault, as I’ve never had the Elysian-brewed version to compare with. In any case this bottle is a sticky sweet pale ale (IPA? not so much) that fails to impress in any notable way. Rough malt character. Below average.
