killjoy966 (108), USA Nov 30, 2008 Pours out a golden color. Makes my mouth feel good. As with most winter ales, the hops are my favorite part. The malt profile is almost reminiscent of belgian-style ales.
Another success from the Elysian. cbeers21 (456), Miami, Florida, USA Nov 28, 2008 Tap @ brewery. Nice malty berw here. Good smokey, peaty caramel quality which is balanced with a twangy hop echo. Decent drinkability and a good brew for a colder evening. malrubius (511), USA Nov 21, 2008 22 ounce bottle in pint glass. Copper with very slight haze lasting head and lace. Aroma of ripe oranges in cardboard boxes. Orange honey fruity sweetness with medium hop bitterness and mild hop flavor. Some lingering spiciness. Medium body and carbo. Decent enough. Nothing special. But not unenjoyable. jeff789 (97), Pennsylvania, USA Nov 20, 2008 I guess given the fact that the majority of american winter ales are essentially english style strong ales or winter warmers or whatever you want to call them, that was what i was expecting... This is not that at all... This is a very good american pale ale with a higher alcohol content.... Hoppy, well balanced, quite drinkable... Refreshing in a world of similar winter brews... PilsnerPeter (1631), Flushing, New York, USA Nov 20, 2008 Tap at Barcade: Slightly hazy orange pour with a dense white head. Some fruity esters/hop in the aroma. Mild note of banana, and sweet American hop notes of candied orange peel and peach as well. The body has a dense and creamy carbonation. A bit sweet in the flavor. Has a sweet glazed pastry like hint from the malt background. There’s also sticky fruity notes of peach and candied orange/marmalade like notes. There’s a late, mild resiny/peppery note at the back of the tongue, which doesn’t integrate cohesively with the overall sweetness. Could be better balanced.
