SuzyGreenberg (1318), Seattle, Washington, USA Sep 4, 2009 draft @ Brouwer’s Big Wood - cloudy orange and spotty white head; very strange smelling and tasting beer; kind of a soured pale ale, but sour only in nose; off flavors and quite gross BrewDad (2363), Olympia, Washington, USA May 18, 2009 Pint – Bottleworks – Seattle, WA
Aroma: Very light and medicine type smell.
Appearance: Golden in color, cloudy with a thin head.
Flavor: Not very much flavor this beer had issues. It was like a terrible infected brew. No help for this beer.
Palate: Dry finish, with whatever gets this out of my mouth feel.
Overall: Was supposed to be one of the better beers in the taps selection this would have never been tapped in my house. This was pure crap. A complete mess and they said it was a young beer sure a young infected beer that will only improve the pipes as it goes down the drain.
mj (4975), Colorado, USA May 18, 2009 Draft pour @ Bottleworks. Cloudy bright golden yellow body, white head. Instant nose of saccharin and sweaty band-aids. Some lactic cream and 7-UP cola flavoring syrup/aspartame in the nose. Highly carbonated and spritzy. Overwhelming saccharin and soured corn syrup flavor. Terrible. Couldn’t stomach more than a few sips. gracefullypunk (272), Washington, USA May 10, 2009 Hands down the best sour I had from Elysian at their SBW tasting. Pours a red gold with a thin head and a good amount of carbonation. Smells of malts, vinegar, peppery hops and sour grapefruit. The sour flavor is balanced, with a sour apple taste mingling with a fresh taste of lemon and vanilla. Liked it quite a bit. carruthm (1112), Seattle, Washington, USA Dec 6, 2008 light red with a thin head. vinegar and cloves aroma. mild sourness flavor and a well balanced palate. killjoy966 (215), Washington, USA Dec 6, 2008 Tastes even better than the Avery Vogekbeck... Pretty excited for this beer due to its slightly sour taste -- as opposed to the super sour ale. Another fantastic beer from Elysian.
