| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 13, 2005 Cloud orange-golden beer with a thin head. Aroma is very malty, sweet nutty aroma, caramel and toffee. Flavour is also quite sweet, toffee, brown sugar and a bit of biscuity cookie dough malts. Light bitterness rounds it off. Nice UK style barleywine. Oakes (8113), gone rambling, Cambodia
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 13, 2005 Golden-amber colour. Aroma has off-phenols. Rich brown sugary character with butter and nuts. That would make a good dessert, but as a barley wine, it’s a little odd. Warming finish. Long, tasty finish. willblake (2186), Belcamp, Maryland, USA

A bit light on the nose but the flavor is big and sweet. Brown sugar. Little hop presence and soft finish. Gromit (462), Port Orchard, Washington, USA

Pours a very cloudy amber with a small head that leaves a little bit of lace down the glass.
Aroma is typical of the style, only a little bit sweeter.
Flavor is a bit harsh. It has some great potential, but this is a bit much. I’m putting a few away for six months or so and I’ll definately come back to it, but right now it’s on the green side. Palate is crisp yet almost cloying. Overall, as I stated, it needs some time and it will be great.

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 28, 2005 Slightly cloudy orange with a substantial white head, of moderate duration. Good lacing.
Nose of figs, chestnuts, and citric hops.
Chewy body, with a palate of figs, raisins, rum, and chestnuts, with an underpinning of citrusy Cascade hops. Fairly complex, and strongly flavored with a really long, mouthcoating finish. The alcohol is not obtrusive, but does build on the palate, as the bottle empties. Reminds me of a more complex Jolly Roger, from Maritime Brewing. Mangino (1027), Mississippi, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 23, 2005 Pours a hazy dark oragne, gold/bronze tones toward the edge. Aroma is malty and sweet. Flavor is creamy, lots of malt with hop/alcohol overtones. A nice brew, thanks to Larry Pitonka for this one!
