From a 12-oz bottle at the Elysian brewery in Seattle, Washington, pours a hazy reddish amber brew with a fast dissolving off-white head that quickly dissipates to a thin ring and film top. Aroma of raisins, vanilla, brown sugar, a touch of figs, and caramel malt, Taste is full bodied, very light carbonation (if any) with flavors of caramel malt, raisins and prunes, dark pitted fruits a touch of tropical fruit. Finish is powdery malt with a raisin and high alcohol warmth. I would like to try this with some extra aging next time.

2004 bottle, aged 4 years. Pours clear up front and lightly hazy toward the bottle’s end. Caramel-amber in color, the body is crowned by a fleeting, frothy, cream colored head. Scattered, spotty lacing noted. The nose showcases big caramel and toffee malts, brown sugar, vanilla, and faded but distinguishable citrus hop notes. Flavors are heavy on the brown sugar and caramel, with buttery toffee lending further sweetness, and spicy, orange peel hops attempting to balance things out. Medium-full, slightly syrupy body. Smooth up front, with lingering citrus bitterness on the finish. Tastes a bit overly alcoholic. Though I have not tried a fresh version, I can tell that this brew is the beneficiary of some time in the bottle.

Nice deep amber body with a itty-bitty head. Very sweet, heavy brown sugar evident along with some tart fruit notes, tropical notes, and some spicy hops intermixed.

Pours a gorgeous ruby red with thin, white head. Watching the bubbles float up the side of the glass in tidy little columns was kind of neat. Smells raisin-y, but only faintly so. Alcohol flavor takes a back seat to something unidentifiable. Suprisingly drinkable for a barley wine. Even my non-beer-drinking girlfriend rather liked it.

On tap at the BT. Amber in color. Molasses, tropical fruits, a touch of dark fruit and alcohol in the aroma. Taste is molasses/caramel, with tropical fruit as well as grapefruit, and light resin in the taste. Body was a bit weak for a barleywine. Finishes with a moderate hop bitterness and some alcohol. Not bad.

Tap at BT. Pours a clear peachy copper amber with a nice fluffy off white head and some lace. Aroma is nice and hoppy- citrus, mango, catty, and peachy hops- ligth citrus and butterscotch/caramel malts. Sweet lgith thin malty flavor- brown sugary sweetness, with lots of hops- amarillo/simcoe type- grapefruit, slick tropical fruits as well. Alcohol is a bit apparent but not overwhelming, and the body is a bit weak and thin. Ok overall, not great, not bad.
