Amber with a white colored head that has decent retention. Pine sap, booze, sweet malt in the nose, though it is a bit watery. Grainy taste with grass, biscuit, and a little bit of earthy hops. Medium body and light carbonation. Drinkability was alright, but I don’t know that I’d have too many of these.

Sample at the Pike Street location. This brew is a clear amber color with a compact off-white head that recedes steadily. Patches of lacing. Aroma of malt and butterscotch, along with some hops. Rich and sweet mouthfeel with flavors of caramel malt, dark fruit and toffee flavors. Hops are present, as is some alcohol but both are hidden. The finish is sweet at first with some hops becoming more assertive on the back end. Above average overall.

Bottle. 2004 vintage. Rich caramel beer with a small whitish head. Malty, caramel aroma with slight sherry oxidation. Rich caramel malt flavor with brown sugar and faint NW hops. Medium-plus body. Nice balance. Lingering caramel/brown sugar. Alcohol slightly warming.

another riversideAK treat. Thanks! Pours a caramel color with a quickly fading off white head. Aroma had lots of caramel, walnuts, and raisin. Flavor had more caramel, walnuts, booze, and a bit of sour fruit. Finished boozy, kind of had an unpleasant mouthwash feel.

Deep amber color. Resiny black cherry aroma. Lightly sweet with same flavors. Generic light barleywine.

On tap @ Boulder Strong Ale Fest poured a clear copper with a small lingering ring of amber foam. Aromas of fruittiness, carmel and light vanilla. Palate was medium bodied, smooith and dry. Flavors of carmel, fruittiness, light toffee and a hint of vanilla with a smooth dry lingering bitter finish.

Draught at 6th Boulder Strong Ale Festival. Pours clear amber with a spare, white head, diminishing with spare lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (grain, cereal, meal), average hops (flowers, perfume, grass), heavy yeast (sweat, horse blanket, barnyard) with notes of dates, apple, and pear. Medium bodied, sticky texture, average carbonation, and a bitter finish. Average duration, moderate sweetness, acidity, and bitterness.

12-oz. 08. Crystal dark brown with considerable ruby highlights. Short-lived but dense and creamy tan head. Light lace. Earthy, biscuity aroma that isn’t really bad but could be quite a bit more charming. Medium, somewhat creamy body, soft carb. Tobacco and leather are already showing up, for some reason. Some prunes and raisins, and a bitter resin finish. Pretty sure I got up into this one way too young.
