Thanks to jjpm74 for this ’05 bottle. Pours a murky brown with tiny white head. Aroma is sweet malts, lots of caramel and some fruits. Flavor is just a ton of caramel, fairly sweet but not over the top. Some fruits in there, apples, raisens and a chewy toffee flavor. Medium bodied with a cloying caramel sweetness, floral hops and a bit of alcohol as well. Taste is good but is all caramel the whole time.

2007 bottle: Bronze amber hue with a small fizzy head and spotty lace. The aroma has notes of caramel, toffee, herbal hops, marzipan, fig and woody esters. The taste is very sweet and bready with fruity background. Fair amount of bitterness in the finish which helps balance, light spice as well. The mouth feel is soft and oily, medium-bodied. Not too bad but a touch too sweet in the long term. (THX Chris)

Thanks to decaturstevo I think for sharing this one. Small tan head that sits above an orange/amber body. Complex malt aroma with fruit and alcohol. Sweet smooth and complex body and flavor, although a bit thin.

An aroma of malt and dried fruit. A slightly hazed orange pour. A very warm flavor that has a bit of malt with a decent finishing bitter. A deep sweet as well. Palate is good with solid carbonation. Overall a good BW not as solid as it could be but good.

draft @ elysian (capital hill) - deep ruby red with little head, but lots of lacing upon drinking; sweet aromas of caramel, figs and a touch of hops; great texture going down w/ very smooth flavors; hmmmm

Bottle split with SpringsLicker and decaturstevo. Pours hazy copper color with ivory head and good lacing. The aroma is lots of raisin and caramel; pretty dense nose. The flavor is intense caramel, mild alcohol, some buttered bread, and some citrus. Toast and mild bitterness in the finish. Decent.

Pours a pretty looking red/copper with a normal sized whitish head. Aroma is rather syrupy, even if the beer is not. Some pear and raisin as well, and plenty of caramel and brown sugar. A lot of alcohol in the nose too. Taste is sugary sweet, with some similar dark fruit and light citrus elements, but there seems to be a lot of alcohol flavor. Perhaps the hop flavor is just rather vodka-like, but it burns with some astringency. Finishes lightly bitter, hot, and tastes of pears and earthy hops. Medium in body, and the carbonation is moderate to low. I like the aroma and the finishing hops, but everything in between is kinda eh.
