Draught, Capitol Hill
Very dark brown with a thick nitro head. Tartness and cheap coffee on the nose. Light and sweet flavour, just a very mild roastiness. A hint of tartness late. A really quick, knock ’em out style. It’s not that they didn’t do a good Guinness, it’s just that when you aim low it doesn’t mean much when you succeed.

Nitro pour at Blind Tiger. Black beer with a thick lasting beige head. Aroma is toasty and lightly chocolatey. Dark bitter chocolate and a fairly prominent roastiness. Flavour is okay, soft roastiness, earthy with a lightly fruity estery character as well. Pretty decent, really.

Guest beer on nitro at the 1221 E. Pike Street brewery in Seattle, Washington. Pours an opaque dark brown brew with a creamy off-white head that has some excellent retention and lacing from the nitro charge. Aroma of toasted dark malt, dark chocolate, a touch of coffee and some dark pitted fruits. Taste is smooth and semi-sweet with flavors of toasted dark malts, chocolate and some light coffee. Finish has a mild metallic texture with some smoothness and toasted dark malt aftertaste.

Draft at RNH. Pours a black body with an off white head. Light chocolate malt and a dry woody body. Simple and session able not bad.

Nitro at BT. Pours a nice deep dark almost black with a lasting beige nitro head and great lace. Aroma is light toast, wet stale malts, light roast and stale coffee. Flavor is a bit astringent, acrid burnt malts, light dull chocolate and some wet paper- old coffee grinds as well. Finish is bitter, astringent and a bit harsh. Meh.

Draft at Elysian Fields. Pours deep black with a thick and creamy tan head. Vacant nose. Plenty of lace. Nitro-esque pour and far too hollow on the attack and the mid-palate, but there’s a bit of sweet chocolate there, along with a nice spicy hop in he finish, so all is not lost.
