Aroma was of maple syrups, pancakes, butter, chocolate and malts. Taste was a fantastic mix of syrupy pancakes, chocolate, and roasted malts. Alcohol was well hidden amongst the other flavors. Very drinkable beer, without being too heavy. beerbill (1976), Laurel, New York, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 23, 2008 22 oz. bottle. Pours black with a large, fairly dense brown head that lasted through three-quarters of the glass and left a coating of foam all the way to the end. Very pleasant aroma of chocolate and roasted malt. The flavor is equally nice with chocolate and roasted malt and perhaps a touch of coffee. Mild hops at the finish. Slightly sweet and fairly smooth on the palate. Very enjoyable. blipp (1733), Newark, New Jersey, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 19, 2008 Bottle. Pours near black with a fizzy tan head. Roasted malt aroma, with chocolate, caramel and floral hops. The flavor is more coffee than chocolate and has the same floral hop profile from the aroma. Some sweeter caramel as well. The finish is long and hoppy. deprogram (112), Renton, Washington, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 12, 2008 The aroma is fantastic: coffee, malt, and roasted sugars pour up your nose. The beer itself is strong and sweet, almost cloying in it’s potency. A good pour, although you must have a sweet tooth to fully appreciate this one. alexanderj (2280), Chino Hills, California, USA

Color of dark brownblack; light brown head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, caramel and yeast. Flavor reminded me a bit of a Baltic Porter; chocolate, coffee, meat and roasted malt. Hank1980 (765), Athens, Georgia, USA

Aroma is malt, coffee, licorice, chocolate, vanilla. Taste is chocolate, coffee, malt, vanilla, licorice, and some bitterness in the finish. Palate is a little light and coating. Overall, a nice stout with a little more bitterness than is typical with this type of stout.
