PilsnerPeter (1394), Flushing, New York, USA Jul 7, 2008 Tap at Barcade: Cloudy light golden with a fizzy white film for head. Aroma is coriander and lemon, with a touch of wheat malt sharpness. Nice and bright. Fizzy body. Flavor is bright as well. Nice coriander presence and soft citrus notes. Has a touch of honey as well, making it reminiscent of honeysuckle. An easy going and well made Witbier.
Angeloregon (1867), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 28, 2008 On tap at the Fields in Seatown--Soapy golden body with a small creamy white head. Grainy, gritty, crisp, floral, wheaten, and semi-sweet. Citrus bite in the finish with some sweet sugar and honey flavors. SuzyGreenberg (934), Seattle, Washington, USA Jul 8, 2008 draft @ elysian fields - cloudy, pale yellow; slightly creamy and grainy texture; sweet and floral aromas; crisp and citrus flavors; touch of tartness; decent JoeMcPhee (3692), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Jun 29, 2008 Tap at Blind Tiger. Cloudy yellow beer with a white head. Aroma is very citrusy and loaded with coriander. Flavour is the same, all coriander with no real yeastiness or subtlety at all. Bright coriander flavour with a touch of soapiness that comes from that as well. Malts are a bit muted and not all that good. A touch of wheatiness, but not much. I can’t say I’m a fan of this one. Dickinsonbeer (2513), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Jun 28, 2008 BT. Pours a nice hazy blanche with a thin lasting white head and some lace. Aroma is spicy, yeasty, phenolic- light clove but medium amounts of bubblegum, and lemon zest- slight soapyniess. Flavor is a bit slick and thin- wheaty doughy, orange rind, lemon, yeasty phenols, and a slight tartness in the end with a weak finish. Ok witbier, but it is lacking a bit of body, and just didnt excite me too much.
