12 oz draft pour at Brouwers cafe in Seattle, Washington. Pour is hazed orange golden with a one inch white head. Falls slow, with no lacing. Aroma of strong floral and honey, sour tart lactic citrus rind. Bright and sharp nose. There is an off, restroom quality to the nose which is not real pleasant. Taste is quite thin, big on the hibiscus flower taste, almost like a hibiscus tea. There is a sweet clovey spicey yeast in the back, though it is far more muted than then flower. Apparently this has Brett, but I am not picking up on it too much. Brett comes out some as it warms, though expresses as hibiscus and varnish. Palate is thin, very light carb. Not refreshing for me, and actually a bit hard to drink. Kinda weird, and just ok - perhaps I just don’t like Hibiscus?

tap at brouwer’s for wa beer fest. apple vinegar aroma, mild and muted for a sour. Could use more distinct tastes of hibiscus.

On tap at Elysian Fields pub. Colour... golden orange. Nose... acetic with hints of hibiscus flower. Palate... quickly sour, then sweetish. Interestingly, it’s not really sweet or sour, once it reaches mid palate, but the hibiscus lingers nicely on the finish.

Tap at the Blind Tiger. White/distilled vinegar, white sugar aroma, celery salt in the nose. The flavor has more distilled vinegar, and some apple. Not too much complexity, but a nice, clean sourness is appreciated.

Draft. Pours an amber copper body with a white head. Some dusty earthy and herbal character with a lighter lacto and balsamic sourness. Bitter and a bit bread y with a mild floral aspect. Decent overall.

Pours a pinkish amber with a small beige head and some lace. Has the quintessential sour smell of vinegar combined with apple and florals. Hadn’t had a sour quite this sour in a long time. When cold, the sour overpowers but gets better as it warms. Still the taste is primarily sour with a bit of bitter floral. Interesting.

Tap at Blind Tiger. Hazy golden pour with a light white head. The nose is lightly floral with a kiss of soft tartness. A little bit of light herbal character and some very low bitterness. The beer is fruity and lightly estery, but not really all that wild tasting. As it warms I get a little bit more floral character. A kiss of tartness on the back.
