JoeMcPhee (3632), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Jun 29, 2008 Tap at Blind Tiger. Amber red colour with lighter orange highlights. Aroma is very fruity and loaded with mango, peach, and passionfruit. Very tropical and fruity. A kiss of juicy fruitiness. Flavour is also great, rich sweet citrus hops, tangerine and orange. Very low cohumulones giving is a soft bitter finish. Really nicely made IIPA. hophead75 (1623), Boonton, New Jersey, USA Jun 26, 2008 on tap at the Blind Tiger. Hazy orange in color with a small well retaining head and alot of sticky lace. Aroma is earth, pine, and citrus- alot of different hop character. Taste is alot of citrus and is earthy, with hints of orange. Bitterness is raw and moderate initially, gets stronger in the finish. Decent malt backbone although you really only taste the hops. Nicely done. Dickinsonbeer (2469), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Jun 25, 2008 Tap at BT. Nice DIPA, and one of the better beers I have had from Elysian. Pours a very hazy almost bright orange with a nice thin lasting white head and great lace in the chalice. Aroma is piny, almost mint-like, tons of c-hops, sappy and resinous. Orange zest and more mint on the flavor, citrus, light grapefruit and pine needles. Nice tacky raw bitterness, but it isnt too strong actually. Good smooth finish- nice solid DIPA. Enniskillen (1525), Port Angeles, Washington, USA Jun 13, 2008 Draft at brewpub. Thick amber with an off white head. Aroma is alcohol sweetness, undertones of hops, caramel, malty. Taste is a medium hoppiness for a IIPA, alcohol is lightly warming with a background maltiness. Dogbrick (2165), Columbus, Ohio, USA May 20, 2008 Sample at the Pike Street location. This beer pours a murky yellow color with a medium thin and foamy white head that dissipates slowly. Rings of lacing on the glass. Citrusy hops aroma with notes of malt and caramel. Medium-bodied and moderately bitter with floral hops and citrus flavors balanced by some bready malt and caramel. The finish is resiny hops with a lingering bitterness left over. Pretty good all around.
