Sledge Jr (2721), Omaha, Nebraska, USA Sep 8, 2008 In the bomber bottle. Thanks to Andrew J for the beer! This pours a fairly unremarkable amber with a medium thick off white head. It does have great head retention, though. This has serious hops and not just of the painful to the palate variety. I like the upfront sweetness that gets washed over the tongue with the hop-induced orange/ chocolate flavors. Then there’s a break in the action to where you think this beer has whimpered away, and ZOWIE another hop bitterness blast hits you. This time it is residual and raspy with a full complement of roastedness on the sides of the tongue. Nice.
moelikebeer (154), New Brighton, Minnesota, USA Dec 3, 2008 Thanks to Skyview for sharing this one. Bottle. Dark golden orange pour. Citrusy aroma of grapefruit and tangerine. Flavor of grapefruit and tangerine with some spice mixed in. jah noth (953), Rochester, New York, USA Oct 30, 2008 Grass and sweet malt on the nose. Mildly dull amber in appearance with little head. Mushy flavor, like applesauce and lemons, fairly vapid, with lingering bitterness. Not my favorite. BückDich (4605), Boise, Idaho, USA Oct 19, 2008 Bottle: Pours a coppery amber color with a nice head and lacing. Fresh citrusy hops followed by a light toasty pale malt note. Fresh and up front, this is a classicly built pale ale. Grassy earthy hops in the tail with more of the toasty malt sweetness, a lighter body than I figured from the nose, and a crisp finish. Nice middle-of the road pale ale with a moderate hop quaffability quotient. bb (2236), Martinez, California, USA Oct 7, 2008 Draft. Amber beer with an off-white head. Light summer fruit aroma. Light summer fruit/light citrus flavor with light caramel backing. Medium body. Summer fruit lingers with light pine. Lightly astringent. SuzyGreenberg (1067), Seattle, Washington, USA Sep 30, 2008 draft @ elysian fields - dark copper, clear and faint white head; aromas of orange peels, raw grain, yeast and honey; drinks bitter and dry with flavors mostly on the sweet side; buttery texture to it too; one slightly off flavor, maybe from the sorachi which i don’t seem to like in many brews out there
