On-Tap @ Bailey’s Taproom poured into Shaker glass.
Pours a slightly cloudy, medium amber with a puffy finger of off-white head that is long lasting and leaves a strong ring of lacing around the glass and heavy lacing the beer is drank. The aroma is caramel, toffee, toast and citrus hops. The flavor is sweet malt upfront and has a citrus bitter finish. This beer has a light-medium body and mild carbonation. This is an easy drinker and highly sessionable. The flavor is a nice balance of hops and malt while still allowing the hops to shine and be showcased.

Dec 9, 2009 Sampled on 12/9/2009. This American Pale ale pours a medium orange gold color from a 22oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head, nice retention and good lacing. The aroma is caramel, apricots, malty and sweet. A medium bodied American Pale Ale. The malts are caramel and sweet. There is a strong apricot flavor here as well. The hops are grapefruity and floral. Good carbonation. Nice balance. Interesting malt flavors, balanced by some big PNW hop flavors. This one is growing on me. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is mostlty bitter.

Nov 26, 2009 @Moosetoberfest Gathering Thanks dmac?-22oz bottle-pours an off white head and hazy gold color. Aroma is apricot, light malt-caramel, some spice hops. Taste is apricot, light malt-caramel, some spice hops, yeast. Good effervescence.

Nov 26, 2009 Bottle … Clear amber/orange ale with a small, creamy, white head. Great retention. The nose is of toasted caramel with rumors of vanilla and cotton candy. Full-bodied with mild carbonation. The flavor is bittersweet with rye-like spiciness and some nice toasty notes. Crisp, moderately sweet, lightly bitter finish. Nice PNW-style IPA/APA.

Nov 23, 2009 Not bad at all. Tap at Rattle n Hum. Pours a nimble amber with an easygoing white head. Nose of mild malts and a little hops. Flavor contains a nice balance of maltiness and hoppiness. Pretty smooth finish with a touch of bitterness and a pleasant aftertaste.

Nov 16, 2009 Deep orange-amber with an average head. Toasty sweet malts with hints of caramel and sugar water. Hop bitterness slowly builds. Elements of grass, citrus (orange and grapefruit) and plant stems. The mild carbonation didn’t help the somewhat oily and cloying finish. Surprisingly strong alcohol for a "pale ale" (7% on the bottle). Further down the bottle, the sweetness becomes a bit much. Not horrible, just a little unbalanced, and too sweet for my buds. Not sure if I like the hops, either, which impart some odd aromas of perfume.

Nov 14, 2009 Pours a dark mahogany amber color with dark golden burnt orange hues when held to a light source and a .5 finger off-white head that quickly settles into a lasting ring. Minimal spots of lacing.
Floral hop aroma with hints of dry pine and subtle citrus notes. Hints of grapefruit and citrus peel, subtle spice and sweet caramel malt.
Medium bodied with a lot of crisp dry hops up front that linger throughout over a sweet caramel malt body into a long crisp dry finish. The flavor of the hops are sweet, dry and piny at the same time. I’m not very familiar with Sorachi Ace hops but they are very unique and I hope that more brewers decide to start using them. Nice balance of caramel biscuit malt with a sight toasty character. Although the malts are prominent mid palate but they don’t take away from the wonderfully fresh hops that dominate the flavor. It’s hard to call this beer a pale ale but it’s very complex and flavorful.

Nov 14, 2009 A: Poured with an average-sized, white head. Lacing was fair. Body is a dark copper color which looks really nice, with a thick haze that is almost cloudy.
S: A nice aroma of medium hops and citrus.
T: A very nicely balanced beer, it starts off quite sweet and malty, then finishes with a medium bitterness that has a small trace of citrus to it. Average duration.
M: Light-bodied and slightly creamy, with soft-to-average carbonation.
D: A very solid APA, something that is definitely worth giving a shot, and should be admired for it’s excellent balance.

Nov 8, 2009 22oz bottle contract brewed by New Belgium $4. It looks nice, orange with a soapy head. The smell is just plain weird at first, like plastic, phenolic. As it warms up the smell improves slightly and the plastic quality goes away. Unfortunately the phenolic, plastic aspect shows up in the flavor in a major way and really distracts from the beer. There is an interesting fruity hop flavor that just get smothered in plastic. This reminds me a bit of a belgian-style pale Avery did a while for Liquor Mart.
