Lots of orange peel and a bit of weird funkiness and light spice. There is a bit of apple and sherry tartness with a kiss of light fruitiness. Flinty bitterness. It is fairly different from their other dark saison. It opens up as it warms and works a little bit better than I would have expected based on the first sip/sniff.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 26, 2009 Hazy golden orange, thin beige head. Soft sour funky nose with light pumpkin spice/meat. Soft sour flavors up front, a little lemon and lightly fruity. Thin bodied, somewhat one dimensional, but interesting. Rather fizzy as well. Dogbrick (2855), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 16, 2009 On draught at Falling Rock Tap House in Denver for the 2009 Elysian Pumpkinfest. This brew is a hazy dark amber color with a medium thin off-white head that dissipates to almost nothing quickly. Aroma of sourdough, yeast and mild pumpkin. Medium body with a moderately sour character and flavors of tart fruit, pumpkin and bready malt. The finish is sour at first with a cinnamon bread aftertaste. Pretty good all in all. puzzl (2619), New York, New York, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Oct 21, 2009 Tap at the Blind Tiger. Best event of the year, when Elysian rolls into town and puts on 6 or 7 fantastic, imaginative pumpkin beers. This was the start of an awesome night. Burnt red pour. Squashy, pumpkin nose, with a light acidity, showcasing the veggie itself and not some cruddy spices that are supposed to be reminiscent of pumpkin. DFH, I’m looking at you. The body has a balanced, green grape acidity with mild pumpkin in the finish. Very sessionable. An excellent sour, and one that could go year-round despite the seasonal addition. thenick (744), North Bellmore, New York, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 15, 2009 Tap @ Blind Tiger. Pours a hazy amber color with a wispy and quickly-dissipating white head. Aroma is heavy on the farm, with brett and barely-ther cinnamon as well. Taste is malt and bready notes up front, with an amazing finish that is an amalgam of funky brett and pumpkin spices. This was very unique, and I greatly enjoyed it. AmEricanbrew (1808), Doing Rogue, Louisiana, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 12, 2009 Hazy amber with a fleeting white head. Big bretty aromas of barnyard piss and dung with mildly sour fruit. Lightly sour dough bready flavors with mild tart wheat, with a hint of pumpkin flesh sweetness in the finish. Not as sour yucky as the name suggests. Draft@ Pumpkinfest 2009 carruthm (1127), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Oct 11, 2009 draft at elysian pumpkin fest. Light head covering a typical orange hue. aroma is vinegar, funk and leather. Taste begins like ultra sugary chalk candy, but then the funky aroma comes back through.
