| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Oct 13, 2009 A nice not too strong nutmeg aroma. Flavor isn’t too heavy. The spices are present but very little heft. Might prefer a less spicier, heftier beer (at the moment). Overall, though, I’m not a bit pumpkin guy.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 24, 2009 A ruddy color with faint white head. A nice spicy aroma with faint pumpkin. The body has a faint metallic flavor that cuts thorugh what would otherwise be a very pleasant pumpkin body. The spice is mild in the body but intense on the finish. dkachur (2429), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 20, 2009 22 ounce bottle courtesy of RiversideAK. Thanks! Rating #200 for this beer. Yay! Pours a vibrant auburn color with a very, very light haze. Nice aroma of strong pumpkin and a nice bouquet of spices including cinnamon, vanilla, clove. Taste is pumpkin, squash, brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, other spices including a peppery note. Well balanced. Medium bodied. Good pumpkin beer. Ernest (4515), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 15, 2009 Bottle (New Belgium version).
Head is initially small, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing.
Body is medium amber.
Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (cookie), with notes of nutmeg, sweet potato, gingerbread, light notes of passion fruit and golden raisin.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation.
Despite being brewed by New Belgium, it’s actually not that bad. Interesting subtleties in the aroma that, while helped (and masked) by simply adding spices and pumpkin, at least seems to avoid the poor malt character that plagues NB these days. I wouldn’t buy it again, but you can do a lot worse in the field of spiced/pumpkin beers. Beardface (1036), Eugene, Oregon, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 9, 2009 22 oz bottle from the local grocery. Pours a hazy orange with a small off white head. Aroma is full of spices: cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, with a bit of bready crust smell and some fairly like pumpkin. This beer tastes very similar to pumpkin pie, with those spices being more dominant than the pumpkin aspect itself which makes it probably my favorite of the few pumpkin ales I’ve sampled. Still, this is a style that I don’t really "get", and I guess that’s alright. dnstone (275), Mons, Belgium
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Dec 5, 2009 Excellent pumpkin spice aroma. Orange/amber with slight white head. Great balance of sweet and spice. hopdog (5617), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 26, 2009 22oz bottle. Poured a deep amber color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of pumpkins, pumpkin spices and some bread. Tastes of spices, pumpkins, caramel, and bread. Spices are there and stronger in the tastes. savnac (453), Palmer, Alaska, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 23, 2009 22 oz bottle. Pours a clear deep amber with a creamy off white head. Aroma is just like a pumpkin pie, you get the pumpkin and the typical pumpkin pie spices even a bit of some pie crust by way of the bready malts. The flavor is not as strong as the aroma, sweet bready malts with a light bitterness. Medium body with mild carbonation but a bit of a thin watery finish. This is a solid Fall pumpkin beer just a bit thin and lacking a full rich flavor. Beaver (600), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Nov 22, 2009 22 oz bottle. Pours a hazy amber bown with a thin head that quickly goes to a thin collar.
The aroma is bready malts, a touch of fruit and some spices (nutmeg, allspice).
The flavor is vegetal malts with spices. It has a bit of an off metallic finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with a little spritzy carbonation, but is mostly watery.
Overall, it sounded and smelled so good - just didn’t taste good to me. I like pumpkin beers but this was a bit off (vegetal and metallic).
