CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA Mar 11, 2007 Sampled on tap on 8/5/06: Pours a transparent bright copper with a nicely-lacing frothy white head. Aroma of fresh earthy piny hops and a touch of sweet pale malt. Body starts with a mild, gritty, grainy malty sweetness and a more bitter earthy and drier finish with a touch of lemon citrus. A decent English pale. unclemattie (2370), Georgia, USA Sep 29, 2006 Had this on my first night at the Grill for the Red Firkin night. amber color. very thin white head. nice lacing. sharp piney and a little citrus bitterness. bitter finish smooth texture. MI2CA (1260), Noblesville, Indiana, USA Sep 19, 2006 Draft - Aroma is grapefruit, floral and perfume hops with carmel malt. Pours hazy brown with medium head and good lacing. Flavor is also fresh citrus hops but loses the perfume, which is good. Malt balance is nice. Palate is crisp and clean. A tasty brew. aracauna (2357), Georgia, USA Jul 27, 2006 Pours a hazy amber with a sticky head that laces nicely. Fresh orange and apricot aroma from the dry hopping. Slightly sweet maltiness. Less bitterness here than in the Kolsch even despite the big hop bouquet up front. goldtwins (4078), Nesconset, New York, USA Jul 26, 2006 Tap. Lightly hazed dark copper color with a thin white head. The aroma had a light fruitiness with some earthy hop aromas. Malty flavor to start then hop flavor and bitterness joined in from the middle to the end. Bitterness had a nice balnace and a long semi-dry finish. Tasty. harlequinn (2745), Tacoma, Washington, USA Jul 26, 2006 This was my favorite out of all four of the beers I tried today. I love a maltier pale ale, and this being made in a British tradition, suited my needs just fine. Well balanced and smooth, with a citrusy hop bite.
