Fruity, malty nose with citrus, caramel, orange peel and a touch of pine needles. Malty, fruity taste with heavy notes of pine needles, resin, orange peel and bittersweet orange marmalade. Long bitter citrussy, piney finish backed up with a solid caramel malt foundation. Full body, fairly sweet. Excellent beer. cgarvieuk (4212), Edinburgh, Scotland

Toffee-malty aroma with yeasty hints and some grassy hops underneath. Sweetish-malty flavor with the apparently hefty amount of hops only coming up in the finish. Some gluey notes typical of homebrews of this ABV, and a thick, cookie-malty layer above all. Medium, slicky body with soft carbonation. This is not bad - it’s just quite strange. Like a test version of German-American IPA tuned to fit the Dutch sweet tooth, and brewed with Belgian-style yeast. dec23 (36), Amsterdam, Netherlands
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Aug 18, 2009 Brewing IPA’s Dutch style is becoming a bit of a trend around here lately, and the Emelisse brewers are the second ones to give it a go after De Molen. Their version is less yeasty than the Molen IPA’s but is still unfiltered and retains the soft bodied consistency of Dutch and Belgian beers. A well crafted beer that aims for balance rather than outstanding features. People used to (D)IPAs from American microbreweries might find it a bit tame. TBone (6844), Pori, Finland

Orange hazy color, good creamy off-white head. Very toffeish sweet aroma (diacetyl?). Quite sweet flavor, fruity, hoppy aftertaste. Very odd and not very good double IPA. oh6gdx (9047), Vasa, Finland
