greig (72), Hamilton, New Zealand Jul 20, 2008 Rigger from Regionals, from the second keg apparently as I had to wait for it to be changed. Well worth the wait, it pours a deep coppery hue with a creamy beige head. Aroma is sweet oranges, water crackers, and candy-floss. Very balanced, with an orangey hop note, hints of mango, and a good level of bitterness matching the nice biscuity malt. Finishes very long and dry.
yalnikim (676), Wellington, New Zealand Jul 14, 2008 Tasted 14/07/2008. 1.25L riger from Regionals for the French. Pours a brilliant deep rose gold. Very lacy off-white head. Biscuity malt and caramel on the the nose, nicely balanced with pine, a little tropical fruit. Same in the mouth, and not as sweet as the initial nose suggets. Finishes fairly dry with a grassy note in the bitterness and a little green apple late on the palate. A shade over-carbonated, as I’ve come to expect from the Emerson’s on FYO at Regionals. My first taste, just a few days back, was a lot fresher, maltier, more integrated and vibrantly tropical with hints of amarillo-like stonefruit. It was a stunner... I suspect this one sat in the lines overnight.
