yalnikim (676), Wellington, New Zealand Jan 30, 2005 Tasted 31/01/2005. 500ml bottle from Regional Wines and Spirits. Batch 0733.
More a deep reddish amber than brown. Slightly yellowish off white head, which dissapates to more of a film. Light lacing. Nose is suprisingly of lemonade with a background of chocolate malt, which hints at an american brown than english. Light mouthfeel contains fresh citrusy hop flavour with caramelly undertones. Carbonated just a touch more than I’d prefer and the palate is left a little gluggy. Otherwise, this is a superb NZ brown ale. Recommended. Emil (6077), Copenhagen, Denmark Nov 27, 2004 Bottle at Plan B Cph. DK. Brown color with a hint of red, heavy sweet caramel malty aroma and taste, turning very bitter and dry in a great way. Medium body and a dry bitter finish. Kaya161 (1129), Aspen, Colorado, USA May 25, 2002 The name stands for Dunedin Brown Ale, but it lacks the style characteristics of either a British or American brown ale. It’s very similar to their Bookbinder Bitter however. Earthy hop flavour with just a hint of chocolate malt towards the finish. omhper (10950), Stockholm, Sweden Mar 1, 2005 Bottled. Dark amber, rich head. Grassy nose. Generously malty with soft, light mouthfeel and some caramel flavour. Bitter grassy finish. A very drinkable malt accented ale. madsberg (4377), Bangalore, India Oct 23, 2004 Bottled: Hazy amber coloured. Beige medium sized head. Is malty and chocolatish. Has a very light hops character. Sweet and malty in the end. Some fruitnotes are present.
