500ml bottle, BB Jun 09 Served lightly chilled in chalice. Pours a sizeable tan foam, dying into a small collar atop a near-opaque black body. Grainy nose, particularly deep roastiness without being all that potent; black coffee, brown sugar/toffee wood, bread, bit of smoke and liquorice, dark fruits particularly plum. Good full chewy body, oily texture, soft carbonation, silky smoothness takes the astrigent edge off the roasted malts. Nice flavour, once again smooth; brown sugar, bitter chocolate, plenty of liquorice, toffee, milky coffee, grainy malt with some subtle hops and plum esters. Finish is...once again...smooth, reaonably bitter, only a slight lingering dryness. Good stout, goes down so easy, no rough edges, very well made and enjoyable to drink.

500mL Bottle.Very pleasant and strong malt, chocolate and oat aroma. Average carbonation, very nearly black beer. Malt dominating tastes, very smooth, chocolate and oat stands out. A pretty sweet stout, finish is too short for my liking, and not complex enough. The flavour doesn’t live up to its aroma.

Black colour with large beige fluffy head.Taste of chocolate and dark berries.Flavor is rosted and light smoked well balanced with medium body tasty mild beer.

Bottle (500ml). Poured very deep brown (virtually black) with a tint of red and a good sized, dense, rocky, tanned head which lasted superbly. Aroma was packed to the brim with bitter chocolate and coco powder with roasted malts, caramelized dates, burnt toast and some tart blackberries. Flavor was similar to aroma with bitter chocolate, coco powder, roasted malts, burnt toast with vegemite, caramelized dates, tart black berries and some molasses in the finish. Medium with lively carbonation, a dry mouthfeel, watery texture and an ok finish. Severely over carbonated for the style (and my liking). I found this one quite similar to Goulburn Stout.
