Beautifully balanced with the just the right amount of spice character without going to far. A great companion on a cold night.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 10, 2009 Dark brown. Quick head. Big spice nose; cinamon, nutmeg, spruce and a hint of molasses. Warm malt, citrus middle and lots of warm spice. The citrus/orange middle is kind of interesting. bluebetty (144), Australia
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 24, 2009 Lovely deep mahogany. Strong off white head. Quite sweet aroma that I can’t really place. Some dried fruit perhaps and spices that I would normally associate with hot cross buns. Taste is sweet and once again I struggle to identify the spices. Some hop bitterness and definitely some alcohol. Quite drinkable and definitely improved as it warmed up. Perhaps a little ageing will help. gam (1123), brisbane, Australia

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 18, 2009 2009 vintage. dark dark red, almost no head. Smells like a shandy! or a raddler i will call it these days... yeah, so basically lemons and lime, but not hoppy at all, I suspect it must be from lemon peel, coriander or something... lemopn flavour continues through in the flavour but is subdued by cloves, cinamon, allspice? roasty maltiness in the backbone and a quite dry and refreshing palate. little bitterness. I like it! Chrism86 (288), Melbourne, Australia
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 3, 2009 Pours dark red/brown with a nice tan coloured head. Nose is quite peculier. Very overt spice notes, surely additions and not yeast driven. Clove, nutmeg, cinnamon & as papsoe points out cardomom. Also some fruit cake-like dark malt. Palate tones down the spice notes a touch, allowing the chocolate malt & dark fruit notes to come through. Finishes with lingering spice notes, but not in the traditional phenolic sense. Really interesting, I’d love to have this with a tasty morroccan dish! UnholyBrewing (450), Melbourne(Mulgrave), Australia
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Apr 2, 2009 ...had it at the Purvis fest. Looked deep in the glass, with ruby highlights. Tons of spices in the nose, nutmeg, cinnamon, and ginger. Insanely complex berew with crazy flavors. I liked it alot. Rich dark fruity flavors, intense and coating. I was very inpressed with this "stuff", it’s like a weird dessert than gets ripped. One of my highest ratings. Try it, you might do a backflip in excitement. sdriessen (208), Dunedin, New Zealand

Pours slightly cloudy, brown/amber. Light tan head.
Rich aromas of sweet fruit, very complex.
Strong ginger aroma with floral and spice notes. Some peach and apple.
Flavours are spicy. Strong aniseed, clove and cinnamon with raisin and other dark fruit.
Not a lot of bitterness. Very rich, especially as it warms.
Intense fruitcake flavours! Perfect for winter.
