satan165 (164), River Grove, Illinois, USA Sep 6, 2008 even without the nitro id classify this as a dry irish stout. had the slippery mouthfeel id expect for that style, though with much more emphasis on chocolate. even the head was tinged brown which was nice. nitro didnt cascade throughout the body though the head itself lingered until my beer was empty. bit of the chocolate shake thing going on here, more prevelant then any coffee undertones which are there in minimum. wasnt too fond of the body however, espically if this is not considered to be a dry irish stout. oats were lost, i didnt know this was oatmeal based until it was gone and i read it on the menu.
guyinchicago (276), marengo, Illinois, USA Nov 27, 2008 On tap in West Dundee this by far was thier best brew they had on tap that night 2004 fobab award winner, pour was black with huge thick tan head due to the nitrogen dispenseing aromas of coffee and chocolates taste of coffe and roasted chocolate malts smooth and mild a must have dEM1972 (53), , Illinois, USA Sep 28, 2008 Rich, deep black in color, opaque enough not to see anything through it; thick “vanilla” coloured head; Rich roasted aroma; Deep, roasted malt, traces of chocolate and coffee, smooth to taste with interesting elements of bitterness; a roasted. malty after taste. DrnkMcDermott (1597), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA Aug 14, 2008 Draft at Emmett’s, Downers Grove. Menu still shows this as an oatmeal stout, and it certainly seems like it to me. Nice nitro pour yields a black body, paler at first from a brief Guinness cascade. Cappuccino colored foam shows dark swirls. Nice mocha coffee smell presented in a proper English pint glass instead of a shaker. Sweet creamy taste and texture to start, thanks to oatmeal and nitro. Some roast coffee astringency at first, but it goes away. Thin nitro mouthfeel makes this go down nice and easy, keeping me from getting filled up. Maintains a milk chocolate impression all the way down. Yeah, I’m rating this higher than the first two. It just hit me at the right time of evening. kseecs16 (601), Westmont, Illinois, USA Aug 6, 2008 This seems to have taken the place of their oatmeal stout, but seems like more than a name change. Dark brown with a creamy tan head. Creamy feel with a rich roasty coffee finish and slightly sweet body. Solid, quaffable stout.
