Picked up a growler of this recently and drank the next day. Color is a cloudy/muddy orange -brown color with medium carbonation and a thick off-white head which quickly recedes to almost nothing. The aroma of the beer is very heavy of cloves with a secondary aroma of bananas. The flavor has a bread flavor to start which quickly moves into a very strong clove flavor. Some wheat notes as well as banana notes make their way though at the end of the taste. Mouth feel is a bit lite and has a bit watery. Overall the flavor is too dominate of cloves for my taste and takes away from the beers good characters.

Draught. 11/2007. Murky, opaque brown, almost purple looking with a thin off-white head. A rich banana and clove aroma with a touch of yeasty malt. Flavor is full with a roast overtone riding on rich yeasty flavors. Finishes tart and dry. Smooth and full bodied.

On tap on my 25th birthday at Paletine. Hazy brown, good lacing and a rim of head. Nose is mostly malts. The taste is very very sour with some yeast here and there. Lots of bannana esters and spices. Overall pretty good, just not really my style for some reason.

Had it at the Palatine location, which had like 5 seasonals on tap. I didn’t really care for the pour. Served in a weizen, it was dirty water brown with a somewhat flat head that didn’t fill the glass. Aroma was pretty nice...a huge sniff of banana and some other esters. Flavor, however, was a little different. Kind of sour and bitter not in a hoppy way but in a lemony way. Lacked a lot of esters of a traditional hefe and most of the bready, chocolate, nutty flavors of a dunkel. Overall, decent but not above average like every other Emmetts I’ve had. In a way, a little disappointing.
