MI2CA (1101), Noblesville, Indiana, USA Dec 19, 2007 Half pint Downers Grove - Aroma of roasted malts and toasted nuts. Pours dark ruby red-brown with a medium head and great lacing. Flavor matches aroma with a mild hop bite. Palate is smooth and a little dry. Easy drinking and tasty brown. DrnkMcDermott (1597), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA Dec 12, 2007 Draft in an English pint, Downers Grove. Deep red-brown body, one-finger light tan head, nice and clean looking. Rich cocoa malt smell. Easygoing texture is the first thing I taste. Continues cocoa impressions, adding a bit of coffee, caramel malts and a small amount of dark roast malt. Bit of yeast in the background. Malts are slightly bolder than average. with a correspondingly stronger Engligh hop bill. Hints of molasses cookie at the finish. A brown ale, but more of it. kseecs16 (601), Westmont, Illinois, USA Nov 9, 2007 Draught. 11/08/2007, Downer’s Grove. Pours dark brown, effervescent, red edges against light. NIce lacing, off-white head. A nutty roast malt aroma. Flavor is dry, nutty, toasted. Medium bodied with a bit too much carbonation making it feel almost cola like at first, but dying down. A nice lasting dryness. Cornfield (4411), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Jan 18, 2005 Updated: Jul 5, 2005At the Downers Grove location - This pours a very dark brown with a slender tan head. The aroma is full of caramel with some serious roasted malt, smokiness, and earthy hops behind it. It has a very lively mouthfeel, lots of carbonation for a brown. Very rich roasted malt and caramel tastes with a strong, earthy finish. Not really true to the style, but not a bad drink.

Emmett’s Ale House, Downers Grove, IL
