thedm (3407), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Aug 1, 2007 This draft brew from the brew pub poured a head of foamy finely sized tan colored bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a transparent softly carbonated red brown colored body and an excellent lacing. The mild aroma was malty and sweet. The crisp mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish. The mild flavor contained notes of chocolate and toffee. A decent one that I would consider buying again. Cornfield (4409), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA May 8, 2006 One of the better brewpub bocks that I’ve had. A deep body with ruby highlights and a creamy beige head emits a rich, lightly roasted malt aroma complemented by juicy dark fruits. The flavor is a sweet, somewhat toasted bready malt with a mild earthy bitterness to balance the beer out. Very good.

Emmett’s Ale House, Downers Grove, IL
ElGaucho (1726), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA May 7, 2006 Downer’s Grove seasonal. Dry, Munich malt aroma. Clear, beautiful, dark, dark, ruby black body with a light tan head. Very sweet and very good. Nails the German Bock style. Too bad it likely wont get the 10 ratings required for percentile rankings. kseecs16 (601), Westmont, Illinois, USA Apr 24, 2006 Tap at the Downers Grove Brewpub. Poured a very dark brown with ruby hues at the edge of the glass. A very robust doughy malty aroma that was subdued in the slightly too cold draft, but really opened up as the beer warmed. Building on this very nice malty aroma was a sweet flavor rounded out with a yeast-like richness that is concluded with a pleasant, if subdued bitter finish. Smooth and full with a slight tingle this beer is great all around. DrnkMcDermott (1597), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA Apr 10, 2006 Draft sampler at W. Dundee. Very dark, but a satisfying brown color. Has a more roasty quality than the bocks I’m familiar with (of course that includes lots of artificially-colored almost megabrewed schlock labeled as "Bock"). Mild bitterness, slightly fruity malts. Goes down very nicely.
