Commercial Description:
An American classic... the McCarthy Red has it all. This medium bodied ale combines a caramel-like sweetness and a complex toastiness, with an abundance of hop character. The firm bitterness and fragrant hop aroma will keep you coming back for more.

I am pretty sure this beer is just a relabeling of their Centennial amber per what the bartender at Emmett’s told me. Anyhow it is not bad. Reddish amber in color with a nice noticeably citric hopiness that cuts through the malts. Sort of like their Victory but dialed down on the hops and up on the malts. Solid.

I was told this is the new version of the Centennial Amber since it was the award winner. Outstanding aroma and mouthfeel-a good cross between an amber and red, with enough hops to keep it from being sweet. One of the best I’ve ever had at Emmetts-and that’s saying a lot.

Sampler at the brewery. Copper red color, nice head. Strong aroma- sweet- dried fruit, maybe strawberry? Flavor is very sweet, more dried fruit and berries, hops take over right at the end to keep it from cloying. A touch too sweet overall for me though.
