| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 25, 2009 Bottle: Muddy deep brown pour with a ruby hue and a rich deep khaki head. Huge toffee presence in the aroma- some caramel, brown sugar, honey glazed banana, toasted vanilla and coconut- some butter oak is there as well with a rich plummy/raisin presence and a peat-like, almost smoky presence. Big aroma, yet filled with nuance. Very slick and warming body- not too thick or cloying. Big rich malty depth with a raisiny smooth booze presence- big, sugary and worty upfront with lots of plummy notes and caramelized brown sugar. Then comes some softly sweet oak and light tannins. There’s some toasted coconut in there as well with a light peppery hop back. If time mellows this stuff out then it definitely has potential. A giant with nuance. 5000 (2634), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 22, 2009 Bottle #3455:   Deep coffee, brownish to the point of being black, burnt caramel hues, thin sudsy brown head, nearly nothing, still, cant get it up.   This one looks like it was past its prime because it appears real flat.
Aroma of Bourbon, Vanilla, roasted malts, and graham cracker.   Burning on the tongue, fiery, alcoholic, some burnt soy and dark pitted fruit.   Backside has this heavy alcoholic graham cracker aspect.   Underlying
heat is a bit too much.   Decent body, mouthfeel could stand to be less flat (lacks minimal carbonation).   Woooo, finishes really warm.   Lots of heat and alcohol.   Lingering dark pitted fruit, raisins, dates, etc...
with graham cracker, marshmallow, and Bourbon.   Enjoyable, but seems a little too flat.   Didn’t even get a pppssstttt when opening this one. Actually, as soon as I started cutting the wax off I heard some pppssssss noises.
Could be a leaky bottle?   Will rerate another at some point.   Otherwise decent, a little young in its hotness, but overall a very fine sipper.

Murky brown colour with a thin beige head. This is a big beer. Apples, caramel, lots of oak and vanilla, some coffee and chocolate and a shit load of burnt sugar. Lots of dark dried fruit notes. A little hot on the finish. Excellent silky mouthfeel. Very good but just too sweet for me to really get excited. beerinmarch (2829), Washington, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Dec 7, 2009 Absolutely brilliant. Big sweet bourbon just melts on the palate with the chocolate and caramel. Yeast character is very mild. Heavy bodied and creamy. Oak provides sweet vanilla undertones feeding the overall warmth.
