Quite smooth for the strength, whiskey is forward but doesn’t overwhelm too much, lets some roast flavors through. Very nice. GodOfThunder (874), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 6, 2009 On draft at Founders. Black with just a little tan head. Aroma of bourbon and flavor is much of the same. Bourbon takes over leaving the stout in the background. Good. badnewsbeers (1026), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 24, 2009 this is what everyone who has been rating the Founders Bourbon Imperial Stout (2009 ratings) has been rating..the one named Founders Bourbon Imperial Stout was actually just called Founders Bourbon Stout and was not aged in barrels like this beer...much, much diff..this is an amazing beer, one of the best i have had..tap at founders..almost black wiht minimal chesnut brown head..oak/bourbon, rich chocolate, molasses, cream and caramel in the nose. flavor captures what makes an imperial unique and adds the wonderful bourbon and vanilla backbone without dominating the fig and mollasses impy touch..hot hop finish..outstanding
